ABOUT RIVIERA SOUND

Riviera Sound was set up by Chris and Dave Bullen in September 2004 after receiving funding from the National Lottery. Chris and Dave have been involved in harmony choruses for many years, and won many medals and awards.

We sing modern songs in four-part unaccompanied close harmony – pop songs old and new, songs from the shows, schmoozy ballads, swinging rock songs.

One of the West Country's most popular choruses, we perform all over Torbay as well as farther afield. We take part in local, national and international choir competitions. We sing at weddings, Christmas carol concerts and a range of charity events. We sang at a garden party for the Queen’s jubilee, and at the local Gay Pride festival – even at the re-opening of Babbacombe’s cliff railway!

We have members of all ages, from Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Dawlish, Newton Abbot and beyond. What unites us is our love for singing – and socialising.

Competitions

As well as singing and performing together, we like to enjoy ourselves. Sometimes we’ll meet up for coffee, sometimes after rehearsals or a sing-out we’ll go for a drink, sometimes we go to films or concerts, and we usually have a get-together at Christmas.

And sometimes we go off to take part in competitions and festivals. A few years ago we went to Jersey to compete in the Jersey International Choir Festival  - and have a rollicking good time. Hitting the shops en-masse in our bright red fleece jackets, we attracted quite a lot of attention. Several people asked what we were about – and inevitably the request came, “Give us a song, then.” So we did!
